Hamilton Township & Columbus Fire Runs, One with a Firefighter Down Call

Print PDF

Box 15 responded with Hamilton Township early Saturday morning to 167 Cottage St, near Scioto Downs.   Hamilton Township crews requested us for a single family house just off of High St.   Crews had to battle nearly 10 inches of snow fall to contain the fire.   Our crews arrived to serve 30 firefighters from Hamilton Twp and Jackson Twp and other mutual aid units.

Our second run of the day was @ 1831 Roberts St on the northeast side of Columbus around 1130pm.  Crews battled a basement fire in a house and just after containing the fire, Engine 16 LT. collapsed and a firefighter down call announced.   A quick rescue was made and the lieutenant was brought out of the house in full arrest.   Medic 18 transported him to a close-by hospital,  and after shocking him a normal sinus rhythm was seen.   He remains in the hospital.  Box15 crews served one gallon of coffee and hot chocolate at the scene

Photos from the scene can be views here:  http://tinyurl.com/ydgwdp5

More details about both these runs will be provided later, as well as an updated on the firefighter.
